New Mexico Report Shows Economic Toll of Alcohol Abuse
When reading the following, please keep in mind a similar study done in Florida. At the last Florida Drug Policy Advisory Committee a Florida study by FADDA demonstrated that:
"each year alcohol abuse alone costs Florida $21 billion; nearly double the 12.3 billion contributed by the beer industry to Florida's economy annually." To read this study in full, please go to www.fadaa.org.
Now on with New Mexico: The New Mexico Department of Public Health has issued a report that quantifies and describes the human and economic effects of alcohol abuse in the state. Highlights of the report were published in the November 2009 issue of New Mexico Epidemiology.
