ARLS Marchman Act Blog - Oxycodone Medical Emergencies Greatest Among Those in Their Twenties

The powerful narcotic Oxycodone is found in brand-named
pharmaceuticals such as OxyContin, Roxicodone, and Percocet.
The per capita rates of emergency department reports for
misuse of Oxycodone in Broward County among those 18 to 34
years of age are higher than the rates among the same age
groups nationally and nearly double for people in their 20s. After
age 35, the differences between the national and local rates are
not statistically significant. Broward rates for those younger than
18 or older than 64 are not available because reports were too
few. The rate for females in Broward was 41.1 per 100,000
compared to 31.1 nationally while the rate for males was 34.5 in
Broward County slightly below the national rate of 38.2.
