Marchman Act Blog - Day in the Life: July 08, 2010: $1 million worth of cocaine found during traffic stop

 

A traffic stop in Volusia County turned into a drug bust when officers found dozens of bricks of cocaine in the vehicle.Authorities said a white Buick was pulled over Wednesday for rolling through a stop sign at the corner of Stone Avenue and Emporia Road.Officers said the driver, 23-year-old Gisifredo Serrano, was driving without a license.During a search of the vehicle that officers said Serrano agreed to, they discovered about 74 pounds of cocaine packed into a trash bag, backpack and a cardboard box. The 40 bricks of cocaine were worth about $1 million, authorities said.Serrano was charged with trafficking in cocaine and is being held without bond.
