Marchman Act Blog: Broward County Pain Management Clinic Task Force will submit draft report
In a county effort to create stricter oversight of so-called pill mills, a task force is recommending that local pain clinics must be owned and operated by licensed physicians.
That was just one of many suggestions laid out in a draft report that the Pain Management Clinic Task Force voted Thursday to submit to the Broward County Commission.
"We don't want clinics that are dispensing orbital quantities of controlled substances with no ifs, ands or buts," said Dr. Sanford Silverman, representing the Broward County and Florida medical associations on the task force. "That's not pain management, that's a stereotypical pill mill."
