Florida Welfare Drug Test Law Did Not Yield Savings, State Data Reveals | The Partnership at Drugfree.org

True, drug addition is … well, an addiction – I do think personally that drug testing should occur when getting welfare. Coming from the field I can tell you that I’ve seen the good and bad sides of it. Personally if we’re going to mandate testing on welfare applicants we need to be prepared to supply those who are addicted, a facility to cure themselves of that addiction.
Now if you needed welfare to survive, then you should not of been using that money getting high. That’s not what it is there for. It’s there to keep you alive and to make sure you have the means of providing for yourself during that rough patch in your life. That’s exactly what this mandated drug testing thing is about. It’s to ensure the government that the welfare money that they send out isn’t being squandered on non-needed things (such as drugs).
